Sarries got their league season off to a great start with a 72-10 home win.

It was a great effort from all involved, with notable performances from; Owen Swabey, Mark Boxall, Todd Jones with a try scoring debut, Morgan Pugsley for another fine performance, and Jamie Navarrete who once again was ‘everywhere’! It was also great to see Sarries ‘stalwarts’ Alan Bain and Nick Hayden back on the park!!

Sarries ran in 12 tries, scrum half Owen Swabey leading the way with a hat trick. Further touch downs came from; Todd Jones, Morgan Pugsley, Tom Fordham, Alex Carvlin, Ben Johns, Danny Hawkins, Paddy Thomas, Jamie Navarette and Mark Boxall. Ben Johns and Todd Jones added 6 conversions between them. The man of the match award was shared between Owen Swabey and Mark Boxall.

Sarries now have a week off before the visit of league newcomers Amesbury on Saturday 29th September. While a relatively ‘unknown quantity’, the visitors record in last season’s friendlies and cup performances indicate that they will be extremely tough opposition, and likely to be amongst the contenders for the league title come the end of the season. KO will be 3pm at the Sulis club.
